The Space Intelligence & Weapon Systems Team creates the next-generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with commercial government and proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment concept development proposal writing requirement development design build integration test and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.
The Space Communications Payload Systems Engineer will be a part of a high-performing team that is immersed in high intensity development projects. As a member of our team you will have the opportunity to design develop and deliver state-of-the-art communication systems for space-based applications for commercial civil and or national security programs. This position will work with a highly motivated team that works with domestic or international customers on their latest satellite systems. This role project assignments typically span the complete program life cycle from internal trades concept studies and system definition to satellite development launch and on-orbit operations and test.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Senior and Principal Level Engineers.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
- Lead the design and development of next generation RF digital and or optical satellite communications systems and payload architectures
- Lead trade studies and generate proposals
- Partner with customers on system of systems solutions
- Lead the definition and verification of space communication system requirements and interfaces
- Perform system-level CONOPS development functional analysis RF and Optical performance analysis and decomposition
- Lead system-level integration and validation
- Lead the analyses and simulations effort for space communication systems including: link analysis signal distortion system capacity reliability and performance
- Develop analysis tools using MATLAB and object-oriented software platforms
- Develop and verify system algorithms that meet functional and performance requirements
- Oversees the design and build of multiple satellite and avionics units from internal teams and external suppliers that meet defined requirements and interfaces
- Ensures satellite units follow proper test validation and qualification processes for space applications
- Perform hardware procurement design reviews and unit sell-off
- Perform system test preparation execution troubleshooting and verification
- Support stakeholder needs through analysis technical performance measures (TPM) definition requirements analysis and allocation & definition for subcontractors utilizing Cameo JIRA and Confluence
**Basic Qualifications (Required Skills Experience):**
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology) Computer Science Data Science Mathematics Physics Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- 9+ years of Systems Engineering on aerospace platforms or similar highly regulated products
- 9+ years of systems engineering experience involving system requirements functional decomposition and allocation integrated design analysis and verification
- 9+ years of experience with communications systems design and analysis
**Preferred (Desired) Qualifications:**
- Level 5: Typically 14+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications
- Level 6: Typically 20+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.
- Experience in customer requirements development system requirements and CONOPs development
- Experience with digital communications
- Experience working on satellite or space-based payloads
- Experience with satellite or terrestrial communications systems and antenna theory
- Experience working across multiple disciplines in a rapid development environment
- Experience with Matlab Simulink and C++
**Additional Information:**
This worksite participates in Boeing’s optional 9 80 schedule rotation. 9 80 is a rotation in which employees can work 9-hour shifts 8 days per pay period (bi-weekly) and receive every other Friday off.

AV is seeking skilled and adaptable FPGA engineers to work as members of a multi-disciplinary team supporting m multiple technology areas. Our Space Tech division develops high-performance electromechanical electro-optical control and communication systems. These solutions include digital signal processing algorithms deployed using System on Chip (SoC) or Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) in combination with General Purpose Processors (GPPs) and microcontrollers.

· Develop and maintain automated FPGA firmware platform build scripts
· Deploy firmware to physical devices
· Architect and develop firmware for space electronics including FPGAs microcontrollers and RTOS-based systems.
· Optimize embedded software for radiation-hardened and high-reliability environments.
· Conduct system integration testing and validation of firmware in simulated and real-world aerospace conditions.
· Support compliance with space industry standards (NASA ESA MIL-STD).
**Required Qualifications:**
· Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering computer engineering or computer science.
· 2 - 3 years of professional experience designing using hardware description languages (VHDL or Verilog)
· Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
· Some experience using Xilinx devices (Zynq Virtex Kintex) and toolchains (Vivado ISE) and or Microchip devices (RTAX ProASIC RTG4) and toolchains (Libero).

**Summary**
The Manufacturing Engineering Team within our Space Technologies area is responsible for developing and scaling assembly integration and test operations for next-generation space systems including optical payloads laser communication terminals and space-qualified hardware for satellite and orbital applications.
As a critical member of the team the **Optical Manufacturing Engineer** will serve as the technical leader translating optical system designs (e.g. for laser comms imaging or stabilization payloads) from development into a sustainable high-yield production environment. You will collaborate closely with design engineers test engineers systems engineers and cross-functional teams to establish optical manufacturing processes and work instructions --from component assembly through final integration and qualification for space environments.

This is a full-time in-office position based in our **Albuquerque NM** facility.
On any given day the selected candidate may be asked to:
- Support the Assembly Integration and Test (AI&T) of optical payloads and space-qualified systems including laser communication terminals and imaging stabilization hardware
- Develop document optical assembly procedures and work instructions including precise metrology alignment (warm cold) bonding and performance testing in simulated space conditions
- Design develop and implement mechanical electrical tooling fixtures and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) for optical assembly and test in cleanroom environments
- Perform analysis of measured data for alignment calibration characterization and environmental qualification; monitor production metrics and yield
- Drive timely resolution of non-conformances (NCRs) conduct root cause analysis implement corrective actions and lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide critical Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) feedback to optical mechanical and systems design teams
- Provide technical oversight for external vendors and suppliers involved in optical component fabrication coatings and assembly
- Participate in training production technicians to transition manufacturing lines from R&D prototyping to scaled production
- Recommend facilities capital equipment and process improvements to scale space-qualified manufacturing operations
**Required Skills & Experience**
- Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Optics (Optomechanical) Aerospace Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
- 6 years total relevant experience of which 3 years directly in the assembly integration alignment and test of complex optical instruments telescopes laser systems or space-based payloads
- Hands-on experience with complex optomechanical assembly precision alignment integration and bonding in cleanroom environments (ISO Class 5 or better)

**Summary**
The **Sr. Systems Engineer** works with our Design team to develop a variety of innovative Unmanned Systems for defense and commercial applications. This position will interact with Controls Engineers to allocate requirements and develop architectures to drive simulation models. These development efforts will generally be small focused design teams which will require engineers to use a range of skills and tools across traditional engineering computer science and mathematical disciplines. Because of the nature of the development efforts the engineer will need to work on a variety of stages of development including requirements definition concept design prototyping detailed design validation and verification testing.
**Position Responsibilities**
- Manage requirements traceability and evolution through the system development cycle
- Provide weekly status of system development progress with requirements burn down
- Allocate requirements to subsystem & engineering coordination
- Evaluate system performance thresholds and providing direction
- Work with Senior Staff Engineers in developing instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition
- Provide input for model development and simulation analysis
- Review and interpret customer specification effectively
- Identifies analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses. Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems

**Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)**

- 4 years of experience in applying Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) to design
- 5 years of experience with Cameo or 5 yrs of Software creation experience
- Experience with FMEA FMECA MTTR MTTF MTBF and spares calculations
- Can effectively assess root causes to critical issues and contribute to sustainability and reliability of products
- Knows how to use Reliasoft and or MADE (from PHM Tech) software
- Proficiency with C C++ and Matlab required
