We are looking for a **Senior Ruby Software Enginee** r to join our Product Engineering group. As a senior engineer you will support data-driven approaches to building services using Ruby on Rails or other languages that are best suited for the problem ensuring that the software we write will last scale and perform. You will advocate for simple solutions and designs over complex ones knowing when to move fast and when to do things right. You will leverage your former experience to build scalable solutions that provide real-time insights and continuously deliver value to our customers.
Eligible candidates have and can work successfully in a remote environment and are familiar with working in a fast-paced hyper-growth SaaS start-up. This is a full-time remote role working with globally distributed teams and is open to candidates in the United States and Canada who are available to work hours that overlap with Eastern Time.

**Requirements:**
- 3+ years of experience building highly scalable products using Ruby on Rails
- Proficiency in Ruby and working knowledge of another language
- Experience with PostgreSQL Redis Kafka ClickHouse and other data stores
- Experience with Sidekiq
- Experience using Git or other code versioning tools
- Knowledge and experience in all aspects of SDLC
- Knowledge of continuous integration systems including GitHub workflows and Makefiles
- Working knowledge of AWS and EKS
- Experience working remotely under minimal supervision

**How You Will Make An Impact**
ThredUp’s Merchandising Engineering team builds the discovery and browsing experiences that help millions of users navigate our vast catalog of secondhand fashion. As an Engineering Manager you will lead a full-stack team responsible for developing new pathways for customers to find what they’re looking for leveraging our AI-powered search foundation. This includes enhancing shopping for similar items refining item taxonomy and catalog quality and exploring innovative shopping experiences.
You will manage and mentor engineers ensuring strong execution high code quality and team alignment. You’ll collaborate with senior engineers to support technical decision-making and ensure the team builds scalable maintainable systems. **In This Role You’ll Get To:**
- Lead a team of up to 5 engineers spanning backend services web frontend and native clients (iOS Android).

**About the Role:**
We're thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity: CareMessage is in search of a Director of Engineering lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of Engineering. The Director of Engineering will report into the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) which oversees Product Design and Engineering and work closely with the Director of Product enabling the CTO to focus less on ongoing delivery and more on executive customer and partnership functions. The Director of Engineering will oversee a team of 10-15 Product Engineers and a Data and Infrastructure Engineering Manager.

They are passionate about collaborating with their Product and Design counterparts to ensure the best possible tradeoffs are being made while supporting their teams to deliver impactful product outcomes. The Director of Engineering understands how to inform and develop a Departmental Strategy that aligns with the larger company strategy and objectives and develops and implements the right processes to bring that about. #### Responsibilities
- **Leadership and Team Management:**
- Directly oversee and guide a team of 10 - 15 predominantly senior engineers and an Engineering Manager.
- Provide consistent constructive feedback and conduct performance reviews to foster professional growth.
- Uphold a high-performance culture including managing critical performance conversations and when necessary making decisions regarding team composition.
- **Talent Acquisition and Retention:**
- Actively participate in the recruitment interviewing and retention of top-tier engineering talent.

#### Requirements
- **Proven Track Record:** At least 6 years of experience in Engineering Management with at least 3 of those as a Manager of Managers leading organizations of 15+ people.
